You might have noticed that I’d taken this site offline a few days ago. That was because I’d discovered malware lurking in some of the files, and needed a it of time to flush it out.
It wasn’t actually present if you were on the site itself, but it was affecting my Google search results (if you search “site:darkerside.org”, you may still see a load of stuff in Japanese. I am justifiably modest about my linguistic skills, and I can safely confirm I have not written anything in that language…).
It’s all gone now, and I’ve requested a reindex on the Google search results to make the last traces disappear.
For those who use self-hosted WordPress sites, be aware that old themes can be attacked, even if not in use. I’m pretty sure that’s how this attach got in, so if you’re not using a theme, either keep it updated, or delete it completely.
